Zero Point is a new section of Ambient Noise started on November 1, 2011. Beneath this section is a desire to take the fundamental aspect of the National Novel Writing Month project and apply it to a real-time repository of daily writing that isn’t necessarily a blog, but more an ongoing writing exercise.
For the past several years, I’ve written on and off a series of fictional stories, ideas for a series of graphic novels, godawful poetry, news stories, feature stories, personal introspections, etc. Some of those scribblings have been published; others, in various stages, have languished in digital and hardcopy files. As time continues to escape me, I’ve decided to house my non-blog writing under the Zero Point category of Ambient Noise. It doesn’t mean I won’t still be doing stuff on Ambient Noise. It’s just another avenue for me to get the writing out there.
The first project to find a home here will be a National Novel Writing Month-inspired attempt called Project 1130. The goal is to write a continuous tale daily for the next thirty days starting November 1. The writing will be raw, with minimal edits (sort of like how the blog is put together). I’m not sure where it will end up. I know a few significant beats, but we’ll see where it goes organically. If you like what you see, drop me a line in the comments or in the 140-character universe.
It’s bound to be an interesting project. Who knows what will come of it or if any other projects will land under Zero Point. There are no great expectations here.
If nothing else, it’s a good way to get me writing more. Hope you dig it.
